The shell or outer layer of your home is known as the building envelope. The insulation, outer walls, ceiling, doors, windows and floors work together to control airflow in and out of your home. They also repel moisture and prevent heat from being lost or gained by your home.

Most buildings suffer from the effects of poor envelope performance and can lead to high energy bills, drafts, cold floors, humidity or mold, ice build up on the roof or even insect infestation. In many cases, a building's thermal boundary and its air pressure boundary do not align resulting in degraded performance of the building envelope.
